Jannis Born
Current job: Research Scientist, IBM Research, Zurich
Graduation in Osnabrück: 2017 (B.Sc.)
My professional pathway
I did a master in computational neuroscience (ETH Zurich) but I realized more and more that brain research is too much early-stage and too far from having real impact (in most cases). I used the ML knowledge I had build in Osna and in my masters to transition to biochemistry. I did a PhD at IBM research, jointly with a computational biology lab at ETH, working in ML for drug discovery and related tasks. Now I’m a permanent researcher at IBM research working on similar topics as well as on quantum computing (quantum ML) to be precise.
