Bachelor Cognitive Science (Study Regulation 2024)
The Bachelor’s program comprises a mandatory area, a mandatory elective area, the free electives, and the Bachelor’s thesis.
In the mandatory area, students build a foundation in the disciplines Artificial Intelligence, Neuroinformatics, Computational Linguistics, Neuroscience, Cognitive (Neuro)Psychology, Theoretical and Experimental Linguistics, Animal Cognition, Philosophy of Mind, Ethics of AI, Logic, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics.
In the mandatory elective area, students can select classes from the three focus areas “Cognition: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning”, “Cognition: Mind, Ethics, and Society”, and “Cognition: Psychology, Communication, Neuroscience, and Behavior” as well as deepen their proficiency in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Methods of Cognitive Science to develop their individual profile according to their interests and academic goals.
In the final bachelor’s thesis students demonstrate their ability to conduct independent research, apply academic knowledge, and contribute original insights to the field of study they are interested in.
